I’m drawn to a concept which at first glance appears to be effortlessly simple, but upon closer inspection becomes detailed and intricate. These meticulously embroidered thread on paper artworks by Emily Barletta have that appeal. They seem almost abstract from a distance, but become structured and significant when viewed as a close up. I can imagine they’d look amazing grouped together; the unifying red thread stitching the separate pieces altogether as a cohesive story of repetition.
