The blurred, translucent quality of Andy Denzler’s paintings leave the viewer questioning their ability to see with precision & detail. This Swiss-born visual artist walks a refined line between abstraction & realism, disrupting our eye with a linear smudge through the middle of the paintings, a kind of ‘disturbed screen effect’. The frozen motions of the painted characters create a tale of mystery & ambiguity, as if their life has been paused for a moment…waiting to continue.  The elusive quality of Denzler’s work is captivatingly melancholic.
