The inspirational Visi magazine, always a forerunner on the design scene, has once again stood out from the crowd. This time in a recent project with ceramicist Mervyn Gers. Inviting their readers to submit designs for their own personalised dinner service, Visi’s panel of judges chose Marion Allen’s designs as the winner. Inspired by vintage postcards and birds in her garden, this interior designer created beautifully rendered, hand-drawn sketches which were translated into a bespoke crockery set.
“The exquisitely unique hand-drawn elements and subtle introduction of background depth made the design stand out among the rest,” says ceramicist Mervyn Gers, whose studio team worked with Marion’s design elements to create ceramic ink decals which were printed onto the crockery. Personally, I really enjoy the simple two-colour designs which are both unique & sophisticated.
Mervyn Gers specialises in creating bespoke ranges for cooking schools, restaurants, shops and individuals.
