One scoop or two? This is the delicious story of an Australian who packed up her bags and joined her boyfriend and his brother in New York City to sell home made ice cream from the back of a truck. In 2008 this intrepid trio took their artisan ice cream to the streets of the Big Apple and Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream was launched.

Only the finest ingredients will do. Laura O’Neil, her boyfriend Ben and his brother Pete use only fresh hormone and antibiotic free milk and cream, cane sugar, egg yolks and the best fruits, chocolates, spices and nuts from small producers locally and around the world. They celebrate ingredients perfected by nature, not science.

They now have six trucks and three stores around Brooklyn and Manhattan selling their frozen treats to the people on the streets. Delicious!
