I’m very pleased to share a brand new deli-cious product from The Chop Shop, my home made range of deli goods. You might remember my Onion Marmalade post? Well, that’s doing so well over at Four & Twenty Café so I decided to add to the range with a Beetroot Relish with Moroccan spices. It’s super good with cheese, meat or, as my friend tells me, straight from the jar! And to keep things exciting, I’ve updated the label with a graphic new print – still keeping things monochromatic, of course!  I thought I’d style and shoot it with the most simple ingredients, cheese and biscuits. Enjoy!

just beet it – beetroot stains and staying healthy

sponsored by VANISH*

Over the past 30 days, I’ve been quite preoccupied with being healthy and changing my eating habits. I did the Whole30 program – a super healthy detox, designed to help you reset your metabolism & heal your digestive tract – and I must honestly say that I have never eaten so many vegetables! But I’m absolutely amazed at the results. No more seasonal allergies, no more sleep issues, no more cravings and no more sugar crashes. It’s as if the reset button on my body has been pushed!

So after 30 days of thinking up appealing ways to cook dozens of vegetables, one of my favourites has become the humble beetroot. I love it roasted with a little olive oil and balsamic vinegar drizzled over, but I’ve also been working on a new recipe using beetroot which I can add to The Chop Shop‘s range. Of course, it’s not only that beetroot tastes so good. I have to admit, I’m a little biased when it comes to visual inspiration – the beetroot has the most gorgeous magenta colour and I’m such a sucker for a pretty palette. But that glorious vivid shade comes with it’s own set of problems …

Oh dear … while working on that beetroot recipe, my favourite Skinny laMinx apron got caught in the colourful crossfire. I could have just left it, because that’s what aprons are for, right? But I just couldn’t. I love that apron! I know that Vanish claims to remove a variety of stains, and happy days, beetroot is one of them. So, after soaking the stained apron in the Vanish Power O2 Powder and warm water, then washing as usual, my beloved apron looks as good as new. So, watch this space for what will be, hopefully, a yummy beetroot recipe …

[Vanish also removes red wine stains (my white tablecloth suffers from a few of those!) and also tea stains. Handy to know.]
