beach house bliss in Portugal

It comes to a point in the year – sometime around now – that I start getting excited about the summer ahead of us and dream of long lazy beach days. This dreamy cottage in the Portuguese Alentejo would be the perfect escape from the frenetic lifestyle most of us live. Belonging to designer and creator of recycled furniture Pequenina Rodrigues, the beach retreat fits seamlessly and respectfully alongside the natural beauty of its surroundings. Built amongst the sand dunes, the recycled wood and straw house is divided into four traditional fisherman’s cottages. The style and structure reflects the owner’s love for the natural beauty of the surroundings. With its hippy chic ambience, this spot would be ideal for a languid summer of dolce far niente!

a stylist’s seaside retreat – Denmark

If you ask me where my favourite place on earth is, I’d say anywhere near the sea. I am a person who loves the water and the beach through and through. So when I saw an interior featuring a seaside cottage by the beach, I clicked over quicker that you can say splash. With a strong theme of cornflower blue and fresh white wood, this family beach cottage belonging to Danish stylist Mette Wotkjær and her husband Jakob Helbig is a 5 minute walk, or 180 steps, from the sea. That sounds like bliss to me. I can think of nothing I’d like more than to hear the sound of crashing waves and the smell of the misty sea air sailing through the window. The cottage is located in North Zealand – Denmark – the historical playground of the Danish royalty and a popular holiday destination for Danes and foreigners alike. Perfect! Let’s go…
