Boutique hotels are so much more interesting than the large generic chain hotels, don’t you agree? The bespoke touches and creative design features make your stay enriching and inspiring. If I find myself in Copenhagen, I’d like to stay at Hotel SP34. Set in Copenhagen’s bohemian Latin Quarter amidst the coolest restaurants, vintage stores, bars, cafés, with a buzzing university vibe, this übercool hotel is home from home in this design centric city.
The latest issue of Est Magazine is out, packed with stylish inspiration from across the globe. A hostel in Holland caught my eye in particular… any idea why?
This yellow room of course! With Cape Town as the World Design Capital of 2014, my eye instantly zones in on anything yellow these days!
Hello I’m Local is a boutique hostel situated in Haarlem, a small city east of Amsterdam. With a focus on local culture, this stylish hostel is the dream made into a reality of Saskia Hurd who quit her high-paying job to open up a hostel with heart. The hostel site was once occupied by 4 derelict buildings which stood empty for 23 years until Saskia re-imagined and revived them into the Hello I’m Local hostel. The hostel offers 12 different rooms, each portraying an individual theme based on local Haarlem or Nothern Netherlands history. With a predominant black and white colour palette as a base, Saskia introduced old and new elements to the interior, creating stories and memories for the visiting travellers. I can only imagine how cool it would be to stay at Hello I’m Local!
