So yesterday we visited a dreamy Norwegian apartment…it seems as if I’m still in a feminine mood because today I’m so excited to share a collection that is not only feminine, but super stylish and one-of-a-kind charming.
Noémiah is the gorgeous brand by designer Noémie Vaillancourt. Before embarking into the world of fashion, Noémie studied literature – perhaps that is a contributing factor her brand’s romantic nature!
Since 2008, her feather jewellery line paved the way for a fashion and accessories range. The feminine detailing of Noémiah is beautifully expressed in bows, frills and scalloped hems. Noémie frequently collaborates with artists and her in her latest collection, Les Herbes Folles, Noémie teams up with illustrator Paule T.B to create elegant yet playful dancer prints.
have a wonderful day!
Anna Raimondo of SMITH jewellery recently shared her inspiring new collection with me. Bone Couture began with a trip up the West Coast of South Africa to see the wild flowers in bloom. The discovery of a tiny, fragile Bokmakierie – or bush shrike – carcass on the side of the road led to a notion to use the delicate skeleton and feathers as inspiration for a new range. I’m a little in love with Anna’s concept of using the strength of the skeletal structure in a finely fragile way. I find the play between durable and delicate beautifully inspiring.
Anna details the rest of the story…
Feeling that I needed to offer something more than the Bokmakierie, I went on the hunt for a snake. The Cape Town Snake Park very generously offered me two dead snakes and I chose to add the skeleton of the Albino Sonoran Gopher, a native to the West Coast of America, to the range.
Using moulding and wax modelling techniques I was able to recreate the original forms in metal. Adding silver, chain, brass and gold plated components I was able to create this unique range, quite different from my previous collections.
