Jaipur and back

JAIPUR-2

It’s taken me a while and I must admit that I’m still floating on a fragrantly saffron cloud while attempting to come back down to the realities of life, but I’m back from my extraordinary trip to Jaipur and ready to regale you with images and stories from ravishing Rajasthan.

JAIPUR-5

I was incredibly fortunate to attend one of the adventurous Ace Camps to Jaipur last month with guest teacher Heather Moore of Skinny laMinx for a learning vacation into the inspiring world of block printing and textile design. This trip meant the world to me. I have wanted to travel to India for literally decades but it’s never quite seemed to come to fruition. I have a background in textile design and over the years have found myself drifting further and further away from my love for fabric design. So this course in Jaipur really ticked all my boxes: India, textiles and adventure in a safe environment.

I feel saturated from the visual inspiration that greeted my every glance and the purity of traditional methods which are such an integral part of the culture of India. It really was my reset button. Renewed, invigorated and refreshed, I’m looking forward to sharing my trip with you and hope to convey just how beautiful it was on so many levels.

Paradise is Here – Skinny laMinx

After an inspiring trip to Tokyo in 2013 where she noticed the importance of plants in an urban environment, Heather Moore of Skinny laMinx shares the value of¬†viridescence in her latest fabric collection. Paradise is Here expresses the energy and exuberance of city plants and how they offer us encouragement, breathing space and diversion from the concrete jungle of an urban setting. One just has to think of the meticulous trimming of a bonsai to appreciate the value of plant life in a quintessentially Japanese culture. Heather’s fabric collection is the meeting of chlorophyll and concrete in the stunning simplicity of the Skinny laMinx style we know and love. Take a look at Paradise is Here
