Clean lines. Black, white and wood. A sense of harmony and peacefulness. This is the home of Majbritt Meng and Jesper Johansen in Østerbro, Denmark. They have created a Scandinavian simplicity in a home where hospitality is the most important element of the the décor. Involved in fashion, design and visual graphics, their firm Design Unit helps companies to develop their visual identity with branding. Having a keen sense of new trends and lifestyle choices is part of their everyday life, so it would make sense for this couple to carry that trendy inclination into their home, right? Not necessarily. When they return home, their goal is to have peace and create an impression of feeling welcome. Blending a global mix of décor styles – African sculpture, Eastern design and contemporary Scandinavian furniture – this Danish couple live in joyous harmony.
“We live with trends and are constantly bombarded and inspired by new things. But when we furnish our homes, we do not think trends, only if it’s nice. Anything goes as long as we like it.”
