Design Indaba 2013 {part 4}

A digital design installment from the Design Indaba 2013 expo…

we all love Instagram and PhotoBlox gives you the opportunity to solidify your memories by printing your favourite snaps onto plywood…it gives a cool grainy look to the photos with the retro texture of the plywood. I bought one of their square blocks which is sitting happily on my desk and functioning as the coolest coaster I’ve ever had!

I’ve yet to meet a bespoke bag I didn’t like, and Soil Design do not disappoint. 100% made in Cape Town, these digitally printed beauties are so lovely that I found it difficult to pick my favourite. Check out their website (which is beyond lovely) because my photos have not done these bespoke bags any justice!

Design Indaba 2013 {part 3}

yay, it’s Friday and time for another design installment from last weeks Design Indaba 2013 expo. A company which totally caught my eye was Milkshed, a new furniture manufacturer with a whole lot of heart. Milkshed cares about wood and all their products are made from reclaimed pieces which are transformed into something special, utterly unique. The part which is truly special is that every cent of profit is channeled into doing good…ranging from fixing up a school or helping out a rural hospice. It’s about small changes that have a big impact.

The much-loved Cape Town store, Quirky.Me, was possibly the brightest and happiest stand at the expo…cool and kooky things are the order of the day at Quirky.Me, and owner Ingrid shared their new product, a practical but super cool ladder manufactured by Pedersen + Lennard.
